Sometimes, you deprive someone certain freedom, thinking you’ve done utterly awful to such individual and you are glad about your accomplishment. Sorry to break your heart, you’ve simply done as terrible to yourself.  The news is that when you hold someone down, you stay down with him.

Literally, What Happens When You Hold Someone Down?

When you hold someone down, you remain there with him/ her because as soon as you get up, your victim is relieved and escapes. Therefore, for the pleasure of making sure the person is continuously hurt and your aim achieved, you stay down with him.

Also, it’s like making sure a child doesn’t go out of the house, then, you pitch a tenth close to the gate to monitor him. Yes, the child won’t make it out, but you will have to remain at your position too.

What Does it Mean to Hold Someone Down?

For the sake of this post, to hold someone down is basically to hinder someone from progressing. There are many situations in which people hold down others and stop them from going forward. Typical cases are;

  • A lecturer making sure a student doesn’t graduate in time because of an offence not forgiven

  • A boss deciding that a subordinate won’t get promoted because of a reason undisclosed

The statement above may appear harsh and therefore you pull yourself away from it. “This can’t be me,” you say. “What an act of wickedness, how can you consciously prevent someone from succeeding?”

Hey, take a Deep Breath and think about it.

It’s easier denied than checked. There are so many things we do that simply describes what I have tried to define above. Be you a Mechanic, Student, Landlady, Petty trader, Civil servant and an Entrepreneur. You could, in one way or the other, be holding someone down. In fact, nowadays, it all happens in the mind just by wishing others failure.

What’s the Point Here?

When people turn into monitoring spirits and remain at a place because they want to see how things will eventually turn out for someone else! You will discover that remaining at that point is tantamount to stagnation.

Why not liberate yourself and let people be? Even if you are offended by someone’s horrible attitude, leave them to their conscience. Never wish others evil. Just remember that for you to hold someone down, you’ll remain down with him/her.
