The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC], announced the rescheduling of the 2019 elections earlier today- just few hours to the commencement. Nigerians are however saddened by the news because a lot has been put into the process – events cancelled and lots more.

Most painful is the treatment of the Corps Members who had no place to lay their heads over the night. So many of them slept in open spaces, buses and just right there on the floor. Pictures of Corps Members are all over the internet but with respect to these young Nigerians, i’ll skip the pictures here. But i think NYSC-INEC can do better by providing accommodation next time.

So, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called off boycott of the 2019 general election. But it was gathered yesterday, that some members still took to the street, chanting “no elections”

Meanwhile, 66 people have been reported dead in kaduna State just yesterday. The State Government in an official statement, mentioned that security personnel have been deployed to the area (Kajuru LGA) and peace will be restored. Also, in Kano this morning, some angry youths (in their numbers)were sighted causing havoc on the street.

This is not the first of its kind – to have an election postponed in Nigeria. Although, we can do better. Anyways, 23rd of February is only a week away (if not rescheduled once again).

But no matter what comes up again, we shouldn’t be discouraged about the development. We can’t run away from fixing our dear Nation. As we pass through this tunnel, Nigerians must decide, hopefully, there will be light at the end.
