So, I met a chapess along the way

She says her mother is gone away

Her father too is yet to sway

But all the same, she’s here to stay

At her age, she’s seen enough

Of crucibles built to be broken

She feels enough is enough

But her defenders are heartbroken

She looked at me and shook her head

“This world is full of unfulfilled promises” she said

It appears we’ve all resigned to fate

Really, the battle is not for the faint

Preachers are now flatterers

Advocates have turned into bootlickers

Sigh! but we’ve got to take heed and forge ahead

Let’s find a way to heal our world
