At this point, I left the duo for the kitchen – my constituent. I moved out imagining what exactly he was going to say. Maybe I should have stayed back to hear what he would say.

Some questions are better left unanswered…

After a while, my thought got interrupted by my aunt’s voice.

‘Feranmi’ she called.

I didn’t know what to expect but one thing is clear, my uncle would not have pleaded the fifth.

“Feranmi”, my aunt yelled again.

It’s 2021 for Christ’s sake, why yell this hard. Screaming on top of her voice like she is still in 2020. Guess she loves the sound of my name. She walked into the kitchen while asking questions.

‘Feranmi’, she began. “What is the meaning of this?”

My heart skipped.

  1. The subtle details are captivating, only a wordsmith could tell it best at all time. I’ve missed reading your pieces, I guess 2021 is off to a great start. Keep writing, your imagination works magic to words. Thumbs up Becca.
